As a school we have strong links with the community. We involve the children in many ways with Alberbury Church. We have Christmas Services at the Church and Fairs at the village Hall which are open to all. The children also take part in readings, services, etc. at other times of the year. The Rev. Val Tait comes into the school to take assemblies and to talk to the children.
We also support the Severn Hospice. We have various fundraising activities and the children visit the hospice to sing and meet the residents.
We are also involved with Severn Caravan Park, Forden. The children have visited on a number of occasions and have helped plant trees. A plaque is then placed beneath each tree with the children’s names on.
Over the past few years we have contributed to events held at Shrewsbury Showground. Staff and children spend a whole week there building a interactive themed event. Last year they built a “Stuart Village” with torture chamber, Duck & Drake Inn, Cellars – “where Guy Fawkes was discovered” and an information tent. The previous year they built a “Ghost Walk”. On the day of the events the children and staff dress up and take part in the event. Once again we have received wonderful comments on the children and what they have created.
This Christmas the children went into Shrewsbury town and local nursing homes to sing. This was enjoyed by all and we received some lovely positive comments back.
We hold various other events at the school such as concerts, plays, open days, cake sales and fairs.
There is also a Mother & Toddler group that meets in the school hall once a week on a Wednesday.
